Ladies and Gentlemen, the Golden State vs Cleveland series has arrived and it might not be the thriller in Manilla but it sure does have the same feels to it. Now when you think about this series you immediately think about the star power matchups, Curry Vs Irving, Durant Vs LeBron, Green vs Love but I can tell you right now those matchups aren’t going to determine the winner, instead the role players of each squad will.
This matchup also has a Game of Thrones season 6 vibe to it considering people had thought the Cavs were slipping downwards and had no momentum going into the playoffs, just like people thought Jon Snow had no hope after he was brutally stabbed by his fellow mates. Instead the King of the North was revived and The King of the NBA arose as well, and now they both have their eyes set on being crowned the Kings of their own realms. For LeBron, his army has never been so fearless and confident in their abilities to withstand whatever punch will be thrown and that makes them outrageously dangerous on the battlefield. Those men have the outmost confidence in each other and they know whoever comes off the bench is going to make an impact in the game, whether if its rebounding, hustling or shooting lights out from beyond the arc, they have zero fear. Guys like Channing Frye, Richard Jefferson, and Iman Shumpert are the posters boys of what bench players should be modelled after due to their experience, heart, and their ability to come into any game and do what is asked of them. When the time comes, LeBron and his fellow stars, Love and Irving will have to make a major impact in this series but they won’t be alone, the cavaliers army is ready and armed for a 7 game war. For once, LeBron and his teammates may not be considered the villains in this bout but rather the heroes if they were to take down the Golden State “super team” for the second straight year.
Since we’ve compared LeBron and his troops to Jon Snow, I think it’s only fair that we compare Kevin Durant and his warriors, to Ramsey Bolton and his army who are only loved by their sole fan base. In every story their needs to be a villain and it’s only fair that the Warriors are given this title, but at the end of the day the California kids should accept this title and run with it. You may ask why are these men considered the foes, especially when one of their leaders is called the baby face assassin? Well it’s all in the last part of the title, Steph Curry is an assassin from the field and takes no prisoners when he’s on the court and this season he has added another partner in crime, the slim reaper. The assassin and the reaper paired up? Now it’s all adding up. You throw in Klay Thompson, and Draymond green into that mix and you have 4 actual all-stars, how could you not want to hate them? They are ridiculous on paper and on the floor together, which is a rare occurrence in a league that relies on developing chemistry for success. Now what makes the Warriors so dangerous is that from top to bottom they are no egos on that team and that bodes well with the guys coming off the bench, because they feel as superior as the player ahead of them in the depth chart. At the same time, you have guys coming off the bench like Andre Iguodala that 2 years ago, was named the finals MVP because he came in and provided a performance that was needed and in all honesty it is expected from the championship caliber organization. Every single player on the Warriors roster have to enforce the upmost confidence in themselves, and their teammates.
Overall, this matchup has the makings of being one of best championship series that the NBA has ever seen.
